ACCENT WORKSHOPS

TAUGHT BY SARAH SHEPHERD AND HELEN ASHTON

All of our workshops take place in Covent Garden, London, and group sizes are kept small to ensure plenty of individual attention. There’s lots of opportunity for practice, and you will receive continuous feedback about your progress throughout the day. Once we’ve covered the foundations of the accent, you’ll get the chance put your new-found knowledge to work with improvisation games and text work. You'll leave with a goodie-bag containing a comprehensive hand-out, audio material and plenty of guidance on how to keep on improving.

ONGOING COURSES

Ear Training & Phonetics 6 Week Course
Tuesday Evenings starting 13th September 2011

6-8pm

This course is designed to be an introduction to phonetics and ear training for both actors looking to technically improve accent acquisition, and non-actors looking to soften an accent through a more technical understanding of speech sounds. It is also an excellent opportunity for phonetically trained drama school graduates to revise their training, or current drama school students to reinforce their training.

The course will cover all the speech sounds of English and their phonetic symbols. You will be tested on your understanding of these symbols through transcription of nonsense words and asked to transcribe as homework. We will also put phonetic understanding into context by exploring how to break down an accent and how to use phonetics for accuracy.

This course is suitable for actors and non-actors of all nationalities. A high level of English fluency is advised.

Cost: £215

Accent Summer School Intensive
